What Sloppy Memes is All About
Can I find an audience on Substack? I sure haven’t built one on Twitter. I have not put much effort into building myself as a brand because I can just make a meme, post it on Reddit and get massive immediate feedback. They don’t care about who I am, they just react to the meme. I’m OK with that at the moment. I have had some reactions to my memes be so visceral that some Redditors followed me across subs so they could harass me personally — that’s when I really don’t want them to know who I am. If I become popular enough someone might even want to dox me. So at the moment I’m happy with being a small time Reddit guy.
So this blog is basically a diary of my meme making and posting experience. Why I made them, what my intent was, how they were perceived, how many likes, how many comments, what kind of people liked it and what kind of people hated it. I am primarily on Reddit but judging on how censorship is going I may have to migrate to other platforms, perhaps Discord. We’ll see how that goes. I make memes as a creative outlet to express who I am — and memes are the only art-form, low art-form that it is, where I can reach minds. My memes have been primarily political because I have been putting too much alternative political commentary (YouTube) into my brain. What goes in is what goes out. I have been trying to make a conscious decision to be lighter and less political — with some successes — but I will need to alter what my brain consumes.
