I’m a little late to the party as this meme format first became a thing in 2015, but I thought an El Risitas laughing rant would be the best response to the new jam by Alessandra Basher, in which she uses autotune and an AI written song to lay praise on the man she admires most: Elon Musk. Check it out:

The Changing Public Perception of Elon Musk

Once upon a time I had no opinion of Elon Musk. I had heard that he created Tesla and also did some spaceship stuff or whatever but I wasn’t interested enough to look into it. What I did hear was positive. He was making green electric vehicles that would help protect the environment from global warming, so what’s wrong with that? He’s just another billionaire working hard to make the world a better place.

I first got a look into his mind when I saw an interview he did on Joe Rogan in 2020 after the COVID breakout. Rogan really loved how fast Tesla’s could accelerate and was wide eyed at the spaceship stuff this genius Musk was doing. It looked like NASA was doing less and less and private space firms were doing more and more. As the interview meandered into mundane topics Musk said that people should not take Tylenol for headaches after a night of drinking because this is bad for the liver. And I thought, wow, this stuttering “genius” is just repeating random factoids that everybody knows. This isn’t how a genius talks but it is an example of the banality of billionaires.

Then Musk bought Twitter and overnight he got what Matt Taibbi calls the “Hitler of the Month Club,” treatment. That is when the media coordinate to defame foreign leaders like Saddam Hussein, Manual Noriega, Muammar Gaddafi, etc. to justify an invasion. Like all propaganda the stories are a mixture of truth, lies and hyperbole. The media have not adjusted these coordinated media attacks to go against domestic targets like Donald Trump. I had just seen Joe Rogan get this treatment for his support of alternative treatments for COVID. In the early days people did not know whether drugs like Ivermectin or hydroxychloroquine would be effective treatments for COVID. All doctors suggesting these treatments were banned on public platforms like Twitter; meanwhile peoples Facebook feeds were filled with up to eight stories per day vilifying Rogan for platforming these ideas. It turns out Ivermectin was not effective, and hydroxychloroquine was. But in the early days of the pandemic when doctors were still figuring things out, the answer should have been to encourage discussion not to censor. Discussing contrarian opinions is not “dangerous misinformation,” as the liberal media kept telling people. In fact, questioning science is how science is done.

The eight hit piece articles I saw on Facebook everyday about Rogan were replaced by hit piece articles against Musk. As I was getting red-pilled about media lies in general at this point I was likely to dismiss them. When they hit him with the sexual harassment story I thought, “yeah this is part of the cancel culture playbook.” Then they published a story that would prejudice me against him which was his breaking up of unions at Tesla. I’m pro-union and right away I don’t like the guy after hearing this. But I must ask: why wasn’t this story widely reported before he bought Twitter? The answer is because the media protects corporations and CEOs they believe are in sync with their values. They would lie for Musk when he was the electric car guy but would attack him when he exposed censorship by the DNC. They had a big problem with a billionaire they don’t like buying a social media platform but don’t have any problem with other billionaires controlling speech by owning other platforms, or that all of American media is controlled by six corporations.

“Orwellian” is never a played a out term. Here’s an example of the New York Times glamorizing the “good” billionaire Musk when he was the green car guy, and then demonizing him after her bought Twitter. He was always the same evil oligarch but when he switched teams to the Republicans the NYT decided to rewrite history. In the blurb the main criticism of Musk is that Twitter is not censoring anti-war (“from Russia to China to Hamas”) voices enough. That tells you who they are working for. Most liberals are lying when they say they always hated Musk.

I still had only vague opinions of Musk as a man but I was overall supportive of his buying Twitter. The mainstream media on Meta, Twitter, Google (YouTube), had not only been censoring right-wing speech but far left speech as well. They say Vladimir Putin ended COVID because once he invaded Ukraine the media made a quick switch from censoring medical speech to censoring antiwar speech, and Putin became the new Hitler of the month (year). Musk leaked the “Twitter Files,” to Taibbi and other journalists. In the files were documents showing the government explicitly telling Twitter to censor certain topics, the Hunter Biden laptop story being the biggest example. Republicans ran with this story because it was an example of the Biden administration’s censorship campaign while Democrats denied it. Democrats even attacked the journalists publishing the story in congressional hearings. Stacey Plaskett’s statement that Taibbi was a “so-called journalist” hit the language lexicon, and it is a phrase frequently used to describe journalists to this day. The media tried to spin this as just being about Biden’s dick pics, but they were lying. Later in interviews Mark Zuckerberg said the FBI came personally to his office to instruct him on what kinds of speech to censor and he complied. We still do not have details on the relationship between the government and Google when it comes to manipulating public opinion.

Musk said he was going to bring free speech back to Twitter. At first it was a big improvement as far-left alternative media voices stopped being shadow banned. And you can still see people like Code Pink, Caitlin Johnson and Revolutionary Blackout getting far reach with their tweets. Yes the racists on X were emboldened, but so were the leftists. People speaking the truth about the Ukraine war started getting farther reach. After October 7^th video clips of the horrors of Isreal’s genocide in Gaza became widely available on X and alongside TikTok this helped create a majority of sentiment against America’s support for Isreal. Musk later bent the knee to Netanyahu but he has still been allowing free speech about Isreal. Who knows how long this will last as the Trump administration has made it clear it does not tolerate “hate speech” against Israel.

Time to jump on the Musk hater bandwagon

Yet Musk hardly became a free speech champion as he arbitrarily banned people who made tweets he didn’t like, cooperated with foreign governments who wanted to censor on X, and started twisting the algorithm to push right-wing propaganda to the top of everyone’s feed. For example, after it was revealed that Trump’s team had accidentally let an editor from the Atlantic magazine onto their group chat about bombing Yemen, I opened X to find the top tweet was from someone denying that classified information was discussed. The tweet got thousands of comments from people saying they believe this over anything they see in the mainstream media. The tweet is obviously a lie but a big part of X’s new function is to push propaganda for the Trump administration. And X is catering to a base that will just believe what they see from right-wing influencers without investigating further.

And then there was the 2024 election where he funded a SuperPAC to get Trump elected. In December 2024 he opposed a congressional spending bill and made it clear that he would fund a primary challenge to any Republican who opposed his position. In February Musk held a press conference in the White House Oval office, where he stood confidently while Trump stewed at his desk. Musk had openly bought the government and now dictated domestic policy, just as AIPAC had bought the government and dictated foreign policy. He just recently tried to buy a judicial race in Wisconsin in the most expensive judicial race in U.S. History. He lost because the liberal judge was backed by the equally large contributions of billionaire George Soros. Either way, a billionaire was going to buy that election.

Then the hated scourge of DOGE. Its first big cut was USAID. And this was partially a good thing as USAID is a CIA front. There was a great documentary released this year called Soundtrack to a Coup d’etat about how the CIA/USAID would use jazz greats like Louis Armstrong to perform in the Congo as a front, while they conspired to coup the elected government and assassinate its president. And that’s just one example of the horrors USAID has commited. But the agency actually does do good things like provide food and medicine to countries in need. If you are going to cut it then you need to replace it with something not compromised by the CIA. But Trump and Musk could care less about helping other countries and will replace it with nothing. DOGE has gone on to recklessly cut thousands of government jobs without any examination of how “efficient” the people in these jobs really are. DOGE tramples on to cut more and more services that help ordinary Americans, and now there are talks of cutting social security. These talks start with saying unqualified people will be purged from the roles and will end with it being impossible for ordinary Americans to qualify for it.

This got a lot of push back from liberals who argued along the lines of “conservatives are the ones who own Teslas. Liberals never did.” This is ridiculous because the boycott would not be effective if conservatives bought Teslas, other than the small numbers who bought Cybertrucks, Most conservatives would rather own traditional muscle trucks like the Dodge RAM. Also someone pointed out that the girl who has come to symbolize the “triggered lib” was actually making a reasonable argument in the original video and this frame of her being triggered was pulled out of context.

Oligarchs pulling the strings of government have always had the good taste to stay in their smoke-filled backrooms but not Musk. His vulgar display of power has made him the most hated man in America and ignited massive protests that have gone overboard. Liberals are now painting swastikas on the cars of other liberals and endangering the lives of innocents by blowing up Tesla charging stations and entire dealerships. Ordinary people who bought Teslas because they care about the environment are now being intimidated to sell their vehicles. The Trump administration, in a fascist reflex (and because they work for Musk) are using this as ammunition to declare domestic terrorism and crack down on protestors whether they are peaceful or not. Draconian prison sentences for those who vandalize Tesla have been announced.

It turns out all the Hitler of the month propaganda about Musk didn’t go far enough. He’s worse than they said. Musk has become the ugly face of the unfettered oligarchy.

He even got Trump to tweet about how he would fast track the immigration of any white south Africans being treated unfairly by the South African government. Apparently 80% of property is still controlled by white Afrikaners and the government is now saying they may buy some of the land back, although they haven’t yet. So while mass deportations of brown people are under way we can get an influx of some of the most racist whites in history.

In Summation

This “We Thank You Elon Musk” song is beyond revolting. It sounds like it was commissioned by Musk to celebrate his glory as supreme leader. But in fact it was written independently by a woman who has been brainwashed to think Musk is a hero of conservatism. She thinks we should celebrate the final upward transfer of wealth and end of the social safety net in the last moments of late-stage capitalism.
