A LITTLE ART HISTORY HUMOR

Many years ago, when I was taking an art history class the teacher was lecturing on mankind’s earliest statue, the fertility goddess the Venus de Willendorf. I got a chuckle from the classmate sitting next to me with the line “she’s kind of a dumpy chick.” I have held onto that joke all this time so I can finely work it into a meme. Yes, every joke you have ever made could be made into a meme. Think about it.

I was recently listening to an audiobook of Camille Paglia’s book Sexual Personae. In it she mention’s the change in goddess statues over the years from being about fertility to later being sexualized. That was the moment the idea for the meme clicked. Not sure how Night at the Roxbury came to mind but the absurdity of guys picking up statues struck me as funny.  

I posted this in /Historymemes subreddit and got a tepid 46 likes. I think that is as good as I can expect for an oddball meme like this. The users of that subreddit are buffs on war history but don’t seem to care about art history.
